LASIK and other refractive procedures are designed to reduce dependence on spectacles or contact lenses by correcting refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism.

Not everyone is suitable for LASIK. A careful eye examination is needed before deciding whether laser vision correction is appropriate.

Suitability generally depends on:
